Abdominal Exercise Equipment

Many options of ab machines to choose from

In this section I want to talk about the actual exercise equipment out there on the market for your abdominal muscles, core workouts and mid section training. Although all of those sound generally the same, they are not. You can do ab crunches, but that doesn’t work your lower abs as well as an Ab Rocket Abdominal Trainer.

Ab benches are among my personal favorite because they allow ability to hit many areas of your core in a timely fashion.  Without having to switch to different machines. An Ab bench is something you can sit back on or turn and hold the leg supports to do some vertical leg lifts; it really serves as a universal ab machine, but at the same time helps with supporting your lower back and strengthening your entire core. With one position or another you are able to completely work your entire core front and back.  As a helpful tip, always be sure to feel the muscle your working and remember: the negative (downward motion) is just as important as the positive (upward) motion.
For a bit more money you can get one with an attachment that allows you to train your lower back, which is extremely important
because the stronger your abs get, the more you need to maintain strength in your lower back because remember, it is
about balance.

The more balance you have the less aches and pains you will have

Also if you have a little extra money and want an extremely effective piece of equipment in your home I would suggest a power tower, or some call it a captain’s chair. This piece of equipment is extremely useful and effective. It gives you the ability to do some
true vertical leg raises, knee raises or vertical oblique crunches. This is the piece of equipment that once your core becomes strong, everyone’s looking at you in envy while you rip out reps in the gym. Of course again it is very effective at your home because it is something you can jump on in any spare time you have. I love this piece of equipment, you can really achieve a true burn and find yourself extremely sore the next day which is what we are trying to achieve.

The Weider 200 Power Tower can help you with these muscle groups:
  • Total core work
  • Lower abs
  • Upper abs
  • Obliques
  • Upper and lower back with pull ups
    • Wide grip
    • Close grip
  • Shoulders
  • Triceps dips

This piece of equipment is incredibly universal.  In my opinion well worth the investment. Of course Harbinger Exercise Mats , small weights and J Fit 55cm medicine balls add a lot because they put a bit of tension in your workout while doing leg raises, which will start to really strengthen your core, and push results.

I
also recommend an Exercise Ball, an oversized rubber ball that can serve endless purpose. This ball can be used for you entire core, if you lay on it you can work your legs, lower back, arms, and glutes. It is very reasonably priced.  I own one, and as I said it is well worth looking into because they are easy to store and you really can get a serious workout from it. Also an exercise ball really helps with your fiber muscles, they give support to your major muscle groups and helps avoid injury.

F
inally, I think one of the greatest ab exercises out there is using a Valeo Dual Ab Wheel, two handles and a wheel. How much easier could it be?
Not very! This is one of the hardest exercises to grow efficient at and also one of the hardest not to cheat at. Sitting on your knees you put your weight n the wheel pushing it out in front of you, then using your abs the whole time crunch back to where the wheel is near your knees. Honestly, start small, do five, or ten see how it feels. If it’s the first time you are doing ab work you may not be able to do any. If that is the case set it as a small goal, don’t give up, just work with other exercises and finish with one or two reps with the wheel. Then each week increase that rep count until again you are making people jealous while they watch. Before you know it you will be influencing everyone to get into top shape to keep up.

This is a crushing ab exercise for teens. The ab wheel works so well for teens because they are more apt to have better core strength and better lower back control, which leads to much less injury. With the wheel there is again many  movements you can make.  the further out you go with it from your body the more extreme the feeling gets.  What you do is hold the wheel in front of you, then let it go forward tightening your core muscles.  Go out as far as you can, and as controlled as you can, so not to touch the floor with your stomach.  Once you reach full extension pull back in using your abdominal muscles.  Tighten them as much as possible and feel that burn as much as you can.

A
gain as I have said before, go slow, stay focused and the results will follow, this is not an easy one, I promise!
